“We didn’t just pick a fight with the oil industry. We picked a fight with the government, the police, the courts and the media.”

How far will ordinary people go to stop oil drilling and how far will the authorities go to stop them?

A filmmaker gets more than he bargained for when his girlfriend is part of starting one of the most polarising protest movements in recent memory: Just Stop Oil. As irreversible climate tipping points loom and their controversial protests face mounting repression, four activists—Indigo, Mark, Phoebe, and Jane—grapple with the personal cost of action against the existential stakes of inaction. This special premiere of the new documentary by director Rich Feldgate will take place right here in Hackney. The screening will be accompanied by a Q&A preview screening, hosted by actor and campaigner Juliet Stevenson, with a panel including Feldgate himself and contributors Phoebe Plummer and Mark Coleman.
