About the event
The current food system leaks edible food at every stage. Its sheer complexity and size create barriers to efficiency and circularity, and yet there are trailblazers who are plugging the gaps in different ways.
Hosted by StreetBox CIC, a veg box scheme social enterprise, this panel discussion will explore the scale and nuances of the flawed food system and the challenges it presents. To counter, StreetBox will dive into the solutions that are being brought to the forefront of the battle against food waste in London through creative cooking, preservation and community distribution.
There will be discussions around ideas like how can we keep surplus food in use for longer? What are the major obstacles? How can businesses, councils, charities, chefs and communities work together to make better use of the food we already have?
